The History of the World - Part I

With the lack of Lenten season viewing material..(spoilers below)

No TV (our Yagi-Uda points directly to the ground) and no religion themed movie on our collection, 'cept for "Saved", which I believe doesn't count for Lenten viewing. Then again so does the movie in my title lol. But, it's the closest thing with all the horror, action, comedy, horror (did I say horror twice? ^^V), and anime titles on our shelves.

25 years ago, Mel Brooks filmed The History of the World Part I. It detailed the history of the world from the dawn of time, to the Exodus, the Roman empire, the Inquisition, and the French Revolution. With Mel Brooks at the helm and playing most of the key roles and Mel Brooks patented double meanings, don't expect anything serious from this movie XD. As it says in the tagline, it always has a little something to offend everyone - especially religious fanatics. XD

And on this note, instead of a film review (Internet got lots of those lol), I'll leave you with memorable quotes from the movie:

The Biblical times:

Moses: The Lord, the Lord Jehovah has given unto you these fifteen... *drops one of the tablets* Ten! Ten commandments for all to obey!

The Roman Empire:

Empress Nympho: What happens if they get captured?
Attendant: If they're captured, they're hung!
Empress Nympho: Not necessarily!

Swiftus: You are NUTS! N.V.T.S.! NUTS!

The French Revolution:

DeFarge: We are so poor, we don't even have a language! Just a stupid accent!

Louie XVI: It's good to be the king! *winks*
